April showers bring May flowers, and this spring there are loads of flowers! For Spring/Summer 2012 designers worldwide sent their models down the runways in beautiful floral ensembles more often than in any other seasonal trend. Verdict: floral print is not about to wilt anytime soon!
As seen on the runways of Louis Vuitton, Peter Som, Matthew Williamson, Erdem and many more; the more in bloom you are the better! Although a classic warm weather staple, floral prints are often seen as frumpy when worn in excessive amounts. However,
this season floral arrangements carry more sophistication and modernity. Without the fuss and muss of the overly girlish trend, even the hippest of urban girls can sport this look without feeling like a hussy.
To say that floral is a trend this season is unfair, because it is one of the looks that is re-invented every season. This season, classic elements like ruffles, florals, lace, and peplums are applied to lean, geometric and modern. The overall look is feminine; however the dainty is replaced with drama. The goal is to aim for fierce as opposed to pretty!
Do not be afraid of wearing bold floral print because it is flattering. Keep in mind that when wearing any type of prints, it is best to match the scale of the print to your frame. If you’re petite choose a delicate print in lieu of large print, and vice versa. When worn strategically, a patterned print will highlight your best features. Therefore when wearing a print be sure that it is a focal point of your outfit and that all attention is drawn to it. Essentially, the best way to learn is to try!
